Frequently Asked Questions
Membership
How many members are in Seton Singles Over 40?
Since our kick-off in May 2003, we have grown to more than 100 members. Attendance at meetings
is usually 40 to 50 people, and sponsored events range from an intimate group of 6-8 attending
a play or concert to a roaring crowd of more than 250 members and guests at our last Halloween
Dance. We are a very active group!
What is the mix of male/female members?
The percentage is approximately 20-25% male, but the mix at any given event varies depending on the activity.
We really don't keep track from event to event, and the ratios don't seem have much impact on our spirit of
friendship and fun.
Do I have to be a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish to join?
Certainly not. We have many active members who are not enrolled at St. Elizabeth's.
Are people of other faiths eligible to join?
While we are an organization sponsored by the Family Life and Singles Ministry in a Catholic parish,
a belief in our faith is not a requirement for membership, nor is it a question asked when you enroll.
At what age do I become ineligible for membership?
Only when you feel too old and tired to participate. We have no upper age limit.
What about those of us who are divorced?
Membership is available to all singles, ages forty and over.
Where can I find a membership application?
You can download a membership application in rich text format (.RTF) here, or in MS-Word format (.DOC) here. Please fill out the application and mail it
along with a check or money order for dues to:
Seton Singles, 2600 Bengal Lane, Plano, Texas 75023.
Dues are $20 for a full year, prorated by quarter. If you join between April 1 and June 30, dues are $15.
If you join between July 1 and September 30, dues are $10. After September 30, dues are $5.
Meetings
Where and when are your meetings held?
Our monthly meeting is usually held at 7 p.m. on the second Friday of the month in the new
Faith Formation Center on the SW corner of Independence and Spring Creek Parkway in Plano.
Date, time and place may be changed due to scheduling requirements in the Parish, but are
published in the Calendar of Events on our website, and in the weekly Parish bulletin.
What kind of activities do you sponsor?
We usually get together for 2-3 Happy Hours, and for 2 or 3 other events each month. Besides
our two dances each year, quarterly Mass and dinner, quarterly birthday celebrations, and
weekly mixed volleyball every Thursday evening, our events have included camping at Turner Falls
and Cooper Lake, party boat on Lake Lewisville, theater presentations at the Majestic and the
Eisemann, movies, weekly happy hours, and Saturday night bowling, to name a few.
I am not sure I want to join. How can I found out about upcoming events?
You can view the Calendar of Events by clicking on the Calendar tab to the left. If you need
more details about an event, use the "Contact Us" tab to send us your questions.
Can I attend meetings or events without being a member?
By all means - guests are always welcome at any event. Of course, non-members are ineligible
to sponsor events, nominate or vote for officers, or make or vote on motions at meetings.
Dues
I am on a limited budget. How much are your dues?
A very modest $20.00 annually, due in January each year. We'll even prorate the dues by quarter
for new members who are joining after March 31 each year. Dues may also be waived in the event
of financial hardship.
